In the closing seconds of the Lakers’ defeat, JJ Redick defends LeBron James’s “Insane Miss.”

The Phoenix Suns defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in a close game on Tuesday, the Lakers’ first loss of the season. Phoenix won 109-105 thanks to 33 points from Devin Booker and 30 from Kevin Durant. Despite his struggles, LeBron James managed to score 11 points on 3-of-14 shooting. With the Lakers down two in the closing seconds, James purposefully missed a free throw that would have given him twelve. With 6.4 seconds left, several questioned his choice, but coach JJ Redick supported his star and former podcast co-host.

“Everyone on the floor was aware of what was going on,” Redick told reporters following the game. “To be quite honest with you, that was a crazy miss. I’m not sure whether I’ve ever witnessed a deliberate miss that struck the rim’s bottom and then fell straight down.
